It was like a reintroduction, so very noob-friendly in its explanation of everything. It was also more like the first game rather than the second, in that there is a bunch of big sideplots everywhere and that it ends on a huge cliffhanger at a point where the story should start getting really interesting. But its far from being as bad as people always make it seem.
I replayed them all recently, and I had a great time with all of them. Hell, when I was replaying GS1/2 I was wishing they would have some of the minor nice additions that the third one introduced (invididual djinn designs, autoselected new enemies if target dies rather than wasting the turn, just generally more friendly menus etc) • • • • •. General complaints: • Certain areas are locked after going past them, so some Djinn are permanently missable -The game is comparable in length to the second, but tries to introduce 8 new characters, so some of them get almost no relevant story or character development(Himi) • Artifact weapons were tweaked to have multiple unleashes, but all the added ones were inferior to the originals, which makes using melee characters less useful. -The entire world has shifted and new civilizations that are supposedly ancient are introduced, which makes for some story inconsistencies with the originals. -The point of focus early on is the psynergy vortex phenomenon, but by the end of the game no real explanation is given for that.
Mystics Apprentice rates this game: 5/5 I was at first unsure of trying the game out, as I've played so many RPG's that have not lived up to their expectations. This game will definitely not disappoint you. The gameplay is very fun and addicting.
You have the classical RPG style with an added in twist of puzzle solving (which if you're a Zelda fan like myself you will love it.). The battles aren't overly difficult, and you won't find yourself having to stop and level up to continue to progress through the game. Personally, I find this nice. As it drives me crazy having to stop in the middle of an adventure to go off and level up. Unlike the 2 previous Golden Sun games, this sequel was a bit easier overall (puzzles, battles, etc) but I didn't find it overly easy or annoying. But if you like to really put your skills to the test, this game might not be for you.

I can only say wonderful things about this game. The storyline is sensational, the characters are memorable, and the gameplay is amazing. The soundtrack for Dark Dawn is awesome as well. Some of the original golden sun songs are used along with a whole new set, which is refreshing. This game is a must for any die-hard RPG or Golden Sun fan.
I can safely say this was the best RPG I've ever played. ShiroShun rates this game: 4/5 Golden Sun Dark Dawn is the third game in the Golden Sun franchise. In my personal experience in Golden Sun, (the first game) it followed the basic RPG methods. A hero, his party of loyal friends, journeying through vast seas and scorching deserts, for a noble cause.
